Continuity mistake: During the final duel between Barbossa and Jack, Will runs to the Aztec chest. Jack tosses the medallion to Will, and as Barbossa turns his head, we see the white shirt collar. Barbossa pulls out his gun and aims it towards Elizabeth. In Barbossa's front shot, there is barely white collar showing, but in the next side shot, the white collar shows on both sides. Jack shoots Barbossa, and in the front shot, there's barely white collar showing. When he turns to look at Will, and when he turns back towards Jack, the white collar shows again. (02:00:40)

Continuity mistake: In the blacksmith shop there's a table with asst tools. In all these shots a few of the tools are arranged differently and in some shots they're completely different tools. 1 - when Jack notices Mr Brown. 2 - behind Jack when Will starts to come into the shop. 3 - when Will says, "Right where I left you." 4 - behind Will, when he and Jack duel. 5 - behind Will, when Jack holds the gun on him. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Will goes to the fort the morning after the pirate rampage in Port Royal. Will says, "We have to hunt them down. We must save her," and his shirt collar is very crooked. Governor Swann says, "If you have any information concerning..." and in this shot Will's collar and vest are straight. In the following shots the shirt collar is crooked again. (00:41:20)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Revealing mistake: Keira's stunt double Sonia is obvious in different shots throughout the film. When Elizabeth walks onto the deck of the Pearl, only to see the skeletal pirates, she stumbles backward and lands on the tarp, and it's very apparent that the one who comes back down from mid-air onto the tarp and goes back up is Sonia. Later on Isla de Muerta, Elizabeth whacks Jacoby (burning beard) with the gold rod and soon after she approaches a second pirate. This pirate is very pleased with himself when he takes the gold bowl off his head, and we can then see it is Sonia actually whacking him, but in the very next shot it is Keira reacting to whacking the guy. (00:59:05 - 02:00:05)

Continuity mistake: Aboard the Pearl, Barbossa says, "Did you not notice? That be the same little island we made you governor of on our last little trip." While he says those words, hair, etc, keeps changing. 1st shot - the wind blows their hair the same way. 2nd shot - Jack's ponytail at the top of his head is blowing in a different direction. 3rd shot - the wind doesn't blow their hair at all. 4th shot - their hair is blowing just like in the second shot. 5th shot - the wind doesn't blow their hair at all again. (01:33:55)

Continuity mistake: Will stands on the Pearl's rail holding a gun under his chin, there are wide shots of everyone on deck, and close-ups of Jack, Elizabeth and Barbossa. The pirates and their captives differ between the close-ups and wide shots, in their appearance, position, and the way the pirates hold their weapons. Two examples: Will says, "And the crew. The crew are not to be harmed," in the close-ups Jacoby is right behind Jack, but in the wide shots he is much further away from Jack. Also in Barbossa's close-ups Pintel stands to the right of Cotton, but in the wide shots Pintel stands to Cotton's left. This type of occurrence happens throughout all of these shots. (01:31:10)

Continuity mistake: Below deck aboard the Interceptor, Elizabeth gives Will the medallion. When Will clenches the medallion in his fist, the way the chain hangs down his fingers differs in this close-up and in the next shot, also showing his face. (01:19:15)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Aboard Interceptor, Will and Elizabeth are below deck, and seen on the table are candles on a plate. The three candles and the melted wax on the plate to the right of Will's elbow, differ in the opening shot, when Will says, "Here let me," and when he has the medallion and slams it down onto the table. The candles do not melt so quickly, while they have this very short conversation. (01:17:35)

Revealing mistake: During the Warg battle, as Aragorn slices off the head of a Warg rider, in the background on the hill there are two Rohan riders on horseback, one on a brown horse, one on a white horse, riding down the hill chasing after Orcs on foot. There are many shots after, including Aragorn throwing the spear into the Warg saving Gimli, and Theoden stabbing the Warg in his mouth. The next shots of Aragorn are when he stabs a Warg rider. The background plate is the same hill and the same two Rohan riders on horseback are still riding down the hill chasing after the Orcs on foot. Obviously these two pieces of footage were shot consecutively and were cut and separated, and other various shots were inserted in between them. (00:11:35 - 00:12:20)

Deliberate mistake: During the Warg battle, the fourth shot after the close-up of Legolas letting loose the arrow while riding on Arod, a Warg and rider attack a Rohan. In the background is a particular hillside with some dead bodies, and on the left of the screen lies a dead horse with an arrow in its rear. The very next shot, a horse and rider fall and a Warg attacks the rider. The background hillside in this shot, dead horse and all, is the same background plate as the previous one, only it's been flipped. (00:11:05)

Continuity mistake: After Elizabeth's failed blood ritual, the pirates complain to Barbossa. In this shot, Bo'sun says, "And it's you who brought us..." and Mallet is standing on his own small rock. In the next wide shot, Mallet stands with his feet apart, sharing the rock with Twigg, who's closer to Koehler now. In the next shot, a close-up of Bo'sun, behind him, Mallet is standing on his own small rock again. There are other wide shots, that Mallet is seen standing on the two rocks and Twigg is in the middle of the big rock, closer to Koehler. In other close-ups, Mallet is standing on his own small rock. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When the medallion drops into the chest, and when Barbossa removes it, there is blood on both sides of the medallion. When Barbossa hits Elizabeth and she falls, the medallion falls near her. In this shot we do not see any blood on the medallion. Yet when Will rescues Elizabeth, she reaches for the medallion and it now has a very obvious blood stain on it. (01:12:20 - 01:13:35)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: Barbossa finds out the truth about Elizabeth, he hits her and she falls to the bottom of the treasure heap where she lies unconscious. Then Will comes up out of the water to rescue a still unconscious Elizabeth. Her hair is different in both shots, as well as the position of the dress under her face, the pearls, the various objects lying on the ground all around her, and the medallion's chain as well. (01:13:35)

Audio problem: Just after Gibbs tells Will the story about Jack roping a couple of sea turtles, Jack yells out to the crew, "Let go the anchor." We hear on the audio some of the crew respond, "Ahoy Captain aye." The Region 1 DVD subtitles say, "Aye Captain aye." Yet, when you look at two crewmen's lips, it looks like something else. It possibly could be, "Let go the anchor aye." Either way, their lips do not match the audio. (01:07:40)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Jack and Elizabeth are on the island Jack lifts the hatch to the underground cache of rum. In the first shot from below, the top stair is visible at the opening above. In the next shot from above the design/shape of the top stair is very different. Bramble disappears between shots as well. (01:36:00)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After the cutting of Elizabeth's hand, the knife's blade is shown six times. 1st- a wide shot from behind, the blade has no blood on it. 2nd- a close-up, as Elizabeth lets go of the medallion. 3rd- a front shot, as Barbossa lets go of her hand. 4th- when Barbossa puts the gun back into his belt. 5th- when he holds the blade up to his face, we see both sides. 6th- when he grabs the medallion out of the chest. In each of these shots the blood on the blade differs in amount and/or position on either side. This has nothing to do with the 'dripping' of the blood down the blade. (01:12:15)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Revealing mistake: In the close-up of Barbossa cutting Elizabeth's hand, we see as the blade goes across Elizabeth's palm, leaving an obvious thin red line where the blade sliced, but not leaving blood on the blade as it slices. The creases in her palm are also unaffected by the 'cut' that's being made. Yet when Barbossa holds the blade up to his face, the blade now has a good amount of blood on both sides. (01:12:00)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After cutting Elizabeth's hand, Barbossa says, "Waste not," and there's a wide back shot of the two of them, Barbossa is holding the knife in his right hand, and the edge of the blade does not have blood on it. In the very next shot, a close-up of the medallion falling from Elizabeth's hand, the edge of the blade now has blood on it. In a later shot when Barbossa looks at the blade, there is blood on both sides. (01:12:15)

Audio problem: Barbossa hits Jack in the face and we 'hear' the distinct sound of Jack hitting the ground, though we don't see him actually hit the ground. We do however, see him start to go down and Barbossa yells, "Aaaah," and he starts to go after Jack. In the next shot, Barbossa, who is still yelling, "Aaaah," is behind a running Jack. If Jack did fall he could not have been up and running while Barbossa yells. At editing, they inserted the sound of Jack hitting the ground, for dramatic effect, even though visually in the next shot, we see Jack running immediately after being hit, while Barbossa yells behind him. (01:57:20)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: When Jack and Barbossa duel in the cave, Barbossa hits Jack in the face. Barbossa yells, "Aaaah," and Jack takes off running with his arms waving wildly in the air. In this shot, as Jack waves his arms, at the bottom right corner of the screen, the wood scaffolding that was built for the cave set can be seen near the rocks in the water. The cave set scaffolding can be seen being built on Disc 2 of the DVD. (01:57:20)
