Trivia: During the coronation sequence at the end of the film, Johnny English shouts "Play it, Bough! Play the disk!" and we cut to Bough threatening a man to play the DVD. The man he threatens is the film's director, Peter Howitt.
Trivia: At the start of the first scene, when Nisi serves the customer she calls Nate, he is played by Rudy Ray Moore, known for the title role in the 1975 film Dolemite one of the most popular Blaxploitation films of the 70s. After Nate refuses the burned toast, Mickey tells Nisi, "Girl, don't pay him no mind, he thinks he's Dolemite." Also, note the name "N. Townsend" on Nate's uniform patch, which is the last name of the director, Robert Townsend.
Trivia: This movie was originally supposed to be part of the TV series "Amazing Stories" but Steven Spielberg like the story so much that he decided to make it a full length film.
Trivia: Near the end of the movie after Mr McAllister gets fired and we see full-screen shots of newspaper articles detailing the election scandal, if you pause the film at the third newspaper article (with the headline 'Carver Student Plans Lawsuit') and read it, you'll see that the director had a bit of fun with the viewing audience by inserting a couple of paragraphs into the middle of the story: 'If you've paused the film in order to read this entire article, your time would be better spent renting "Citizen Ruth" from your local video store. Do you know how hard and unthankful (?) a task it is to write these fake few stories for newspaper movie pages? I've got better things to do.'
Trivia: Kevin Smith wrote the part of Jay specifically for Jason Mewes, basing the character almost entirely on him. Despite the nearly exact replica of himself, Jason was terrified at having to "act" it out in front of the camera. Kevin gave a months worth of lessons to Jason in how to act like Jason Mewes. They even had to get him drunk before almost every take just so he wouldn't tense up. He was so camera shy that during the scene where Jay and Silent Bob dance there are no crew members around. The crew turned the camera on, then everyone went into the RST Video so he could dance by himself.
Trivia: At the beginning of the movie, when The Dude is writing a check for the cream at the grocery, look at the date on the check. Sept 11, 1991. A few seconds later we see George Bush Sr. talking about Iraq. So here we have a scene containing Sept. 11th, George Bush and references to the Middle East in a movie that takes place in 1991. Trivia: Polly explains to Reuben that she's travelled to many exotic places (Singapore, Costa Rica, etc.). The last place that she lists is Buffalo, New York, which is the city that Jennifer Aniston's (Polly) last movie, Bruce Almighty (2003), took place in.
Trivia: At the prom, the popular girls tell a couple that there's "no room" at their table. The couple is dressed like Mary and Joseph of the Bible, whom were told there was "no room" at the inn (and therefore had to give birth to Jesus in a stable).
Trivia: The guy sitting at the $100 table is Vince Vaughn's father, and the old lady who wins at blackjack is Jon Favreau's grandmother.

Trivia: The picture of Billy that Eric is using to monitor Billy's progress from grade to grade is the same headshot photo that was used in Happy Gilmore for the signboards some people were carrying in the crowds.

Trivia: In the scene where Lloyd is eating dinner with Harry and they're talking about the pie, Lloyd says "I like it alot" which is a phrase used in the first Dumb and Dumber movie.
