Updated this week Continuity: At the scene where Fletcher & Co light fires to scare the cattle, it's night. When the cattle start stampeding it's suddenly broad daylight.

Updated this week Revealing: When Nullah and his mother are being pulled out of the tank, the stitching on the dummy used for the mother is visible.

Updated this week Factual error: Outside the Territory Hotel, during the storm, and once earlier in the movie, the taxi cabs are shown with the modern "flip over" vacancy/hired signs that were not used then.

Updated this week Other: The union jack being raised at the beginning of the movie is actually being raised up-side-down - a very common error. Wide white band must be uppermost near the pole.

Updated recently Factual error: During the attack on Darwin, Army signs display "19th Infantry Battalion". The 19th is a World War 1 unit. In the Second World War, the Second Australian Imperial Force was raised and the 2nd 19th Infantry Battalion AIF was formed. The correct citation is 2/19 Infantry Battalion. Also, the bombing of Darwin occurred on February 19, 1942. The 2/19 Inf Bn AIF was captured in Singapore on 15 February 1942.

Updated recently Other: The stirrups on the horse that Nullah (the young aboriginal boy) finds at the beginning of the movie are perfectly adjusted to his leg length, even though the previous rider was an adult.

Updated recently Factual error: Paspaley Pearls not established as a company in Darwin until 1946, yet one of the buildings bears a sign for this company.

Updated recently Factual error: The cattle used in the film are a Santa Gertrudis cross breed. These were originally bred in USA & brought to Australia around the 1960's.

Updated recently Factual error: The Australian Army slouch hats worn in the film show a folded cotton puggaree. An unfolded felt puggaree was replaced by the folded cotton puggaree in 1942, mostly mid to late 1942. The soldiers are shown wearing the folded cotton puggarees in late 1941 and February 1942.

Updated recently Factual error: The mission island shown in the movie is fictional. Father John McGrath, a Catholic priest conducting missionary work on Bathurst Island, was not the first to spot the Japanese planes. That honour goes to a coastwatcher on Melville Island. McGrath later sent the message, "An unusually large air formation bearing down on us from the northwest." The mission was not attacked by air, nor did any Japanese army forces land on Bathurst Island.

Updated recently Continuity: During the cattle drive Nullah starts out by riding a Skewbald (brown and white) horse but in subsequent shots the horse is Piebald (black and white). In later scenes the horse remains Piebald but the pattern of the markings changes between shots indicating that the pony was actually grey.

Updated recently Continuity: In The Territory Hotel, after the bombing of Darwin, Drover invites his aboriginal friend into the bar for a drink. The barman pours half glasses of rum, but when they lift them to their lips, the glasses are full.

Updated recently Factual error: No ship called the Barossa was sunk at Darwin in the 19 February 1942 attacks.

Updated recently Other: In the scene where Nulla is hiding in the water tank with the police down below looking for him, the windmill is turning quite fast, however cut away shots of the trees, vegetation and the long hair of one of the trackers shows no sign of any wind whatsoever.

Updated recently Factual error: The Army uniform that Nicole Kidman's character wears is not consistent with the designs worn at the time. The Australian Army did not issue blouses with small twin-creased pockets with button flaps.

Updated recently Other: When the aboriginal boy Nullah is riding his horse between the trees, there is dust rising up in front of Nullah and the horse as well as behind Nullah and the horse.

Updated recently Other: When Ashley and Drover are driving past the jumping kangaroos and one gets shot, the kangaroo is then inexplicably on the top of the truck.

Mistake Factual error: Early in the film Hugh Jackman is using a 1990s plastic toothbrush.

Mistake Continuity: When Drover and Ashley are parading in the rain at the ball, there is a shot of Drover's all white clean shirt, specifically the arms. When they dance in the mud after it starts raining, it has some mud stains on one of the arms. Cut back later and the shirt is clean again.

Mistake Other: In the scene showing Fletcher hanging over the wreckage of an anti-aircraft gun after he was spared, the camera flies up above the gun looking directly down the barrel. The plug welded into the barrel to deactivate the gun under Australian gun legislation can be seen.
