Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

Corrected entry: At the beginning the Red Queen said that the last human settlement will fall in 48 hours unless Alice releases the anti-virus, however when Alice does release the anti-virus (a few seconds before the timer ends) she says it will take years for it to reach around all the corners of the globe, this does not make sense and implies that the last human settlement will fall anyway.

Correction: I think you misunderstood what was happening. The human settlements were not being killed by the virus. They were being attacked by forces from the Umbrella corporation. The Red Queen explains in the final scene that once Alice killed Dr. Isaacs and released the anti-virus, she was able to take control of Umbrella and stop the attacks, saving the settlements.

That doesn't make really sense. What umbrella employees are left to do that? Also it's just bad writing.

The forces might not necessarily be Umbrella employees. They could be controlled creatures, clones or any of the other forces Umbrella has been shown to possess throughout the six movies. You can basically pick your poison, because Umbrella has been depicted as having near-limitless resources. Regardless, the movie does offer an explanation, and this particular mistake is incorrect because it is contrary to what the movie told us. Plus, like it or not, bad writing isn't necessarily a mistake in and of itself.

Corrected entry: Considering Alice loses several fingers at the end it seems unlikely she could've ridden a motorcycle or used a weapon.

Rob245

Correction: How is this a mistake? This is just pure (false) speculation on the part of the submitter. Just because she lost a few fingers doesn't mean she can't ride a motorcycle. I've seen people using them with only one arm! And she is still very capable of using weapons. She still has another hand, plus she didn't even lose all her fingers, so she could still use that hand for certain things.

TedStixon

Okay my bad. I meant to write she loses several fingers but is shown as having them all while riding away at the end. This would be a visible mistake. It was late night, I wasn't thinking properly. Thank you.

Corrected entry: At the first overpass Alice tries to use the motorcycle that's just sitting there, strangely clean. She doesn't have her prints in their system so the bike won't start and she gets zapped. She gets captured by Dr Isaacs and cuts off his left hand to escape on a motorcycle carried on his armored vehicle. Later at another destroyed flyover, she gets back onto the bike and rides towards Raccoon City. No fingerprint or hand required.

Ladyrebyl

Correction: She likely used Isaac's hand to access the bike's computer system and either re-programmed it to work with her finger-prints or simply disabled the security system so it wouldn't require a finger-print scan. She was a former head of security with Umbrella and knew how their systems worked and what they could do, after all. It'd be a lot easier to do that than carry around a hand that will likely start to rot, and nothing in the film indicates that wouldn't be possible.

Continuity mistake: It was briefly stated in the second film that the T-Virus was created by Dr. Ashford to cure his daughter Angela and that the Red and White Queens were based on her. This movie contradicts that by suggesting that Dr. Marcus created the T-Virus to cure his daughter Alicia, and that the Red/White Queens were modeled after her. While the rest of the movie stays true to the continuity of the previous films, this rather obvious ret-con is still a major continuity gaff.

Trivia: The film's production was quite troubled. A crewmember named Ricardo Cornelius was killed in a freak accident when he was crushed by a Humvee and a stuntwoman named Olivia Jackson was severely injured, with her face being "de-gloved" and sustaining may injuries and fractures which resulted in the loss of her right arm. Thankfully she survived and made a full recovery and the doctors were able to surgically mend her face and other injuries.

Question: In Resident Evil Extinction, the White Queen says Alice's blood is the cure for the whole infection. So what the heck was everyone doing the whole time? Why act so surprised to find a cure, which by the way came out of nowhere, when you were the cure the entire time?

Taken250

Answer: In all honestly... this film series isn't one to shy away from ret-conning elements of prior films. ("Ret-con" being short for "retroactive continuity" - a storytelling device in which rules and plot-points are either changed or ignored in later installments.) This just seems to be another example of a ret-con. The idea that Alice was the "cure" all along would have ended the series a lot sooner, and they wanted to make more movies, so they just sort-of "ignored" this idea in the sequels that followed "Extinction."
