Game of Thrones

The Iron Throne - S8-E6

Continuity mistake: When the episode starts Arya is walking towards where Daenerys is and has her face covered in mud and soot, plus a long streak of dark dry blood running through the right side of her face. The next time we see her her face is cleaner and the blood is less noticeable. In further shots the amount of blood increases or decreases randomly. There doesn't seem to be much water and soap around the place.

Suggested correction: That is correct, however there is actually a reason for this, it was just never adapted from the books. Stains burned the woods during battle of the black water as an offering to the lord of light.

That doesn't remove the hills though.

The Iron Throne - S8-E6

Continuity mistake: During the meeting at the Dragonpit, Sansa is wearing her long silver chain and circle neckwear, with the long chain changing the way it is placed through the circle. First the chain is put through the circle in a way that's over and under, but in some shots the chain is put through the circle the opposite way, under and over. (00:53:10)

The Pointy End - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: When Ser Barriston throws his armor and sword on the floor after being demoted, the sword stops by his armor. However when Sansa kneels down, the sword is now a good distance from the armor. (00:52:40)

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - S8-E2

Continuity mistake: During the battle strategy meeting around the table, Sansa wears the long silver chain and circle neckwear, and the long chain changes the way it is placed through the circle. Sansa's chain is put through the circle in a way that's over and under in most shots, but when Jon explains that if the dragons are in the field they won't be able to protect Bran, the long chain is put through the circle the opposite way, under and over. The Spoils of War - S7-E4

Continuity mistake: In order to save him from Drogon's fire at the very end of the episode Jaime is thrust by Bronn into water about 40 feet deep. This shouldn't have been possible especially after Jamie is shown galloping on his horse along the watery beach side just moments before.

Suggested correction: As shown in the following episode, the undercurrents had carried them some distance down-river.

An undercurrent may explain how they eventually got to the other side of the lake but not why the water on the shore became so deep so quickly.

Show generally

Continuity mistake: The difference between the heights of Ser Jaime and Lady Brianne continually differs. Sometimes Brianne is taller than Jaime by several inches, and at other times they appear to be nearly the same height when standing side-by-side, even though they're always wearing the same clothes and boots.

You Win or You Die - S1-E7

Continuity mistake: When Jon and the others emerge onto the other side of the wall, there are 4 people with torches. Pay attention to the one at the back on the screen left. He has his torch in his left hand in this shot, but as the shot changes to the front he now has his torch in his right hand. (00:44:30)

Winter Is Coming - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: When Ned executes the deserter, the wide leather straps of Ned's cloak are crisscrossed with his left over his right. But when Ned walks over to Bran, the straps are now crisscrossed the opposite way. Not due to flipped shots.

The Iron Throne - S8-E6

Continuity mistake: When Grey Worm leads Tyrion to the Dragonpit, as they pass the column of Unsullied their long individual shadows are directly to their sides, but in the next shot the Unsullied are seen in the background and the shadows are entirely different. (00:46:00)

The Long Night - S8-E3

Continuity mistake: When Arya stabs the Night King it's high on his chest, piercing his leather armor. In the next wide shot, the dagger is lower and not in the armor.

The Iron Throne - S8-E6

Continuity mistake: When Daenerys is dead she has blood underneath her back and hair, and as the camera is above her, her right arm is curved or bent a little. When Drogon picks her up her arm is now straight and despite the blood on the ground she seems to be completely clean. No blood on her back, hair or scarf. Then as Drogon flies away, how on earth did he pick her up with his left hind leg? Did he twist his leg 180° to pick her up with his front claw?

The Pointy End - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: Arya and Syrio are practising at the start, we see them stop with their swords touching and crossed. Camera changes and Syrio's sword is much lower and no longer touching Arya's. (00:02:10)

The Last Of The Starks - S8-E4

Other mistake: During the scene in the banquet hall, as Tormund says "most people get bloody murdered, they stay that way", look at Daenerys in the background - a disposable coffee cup is on the table in front of her. This brown cup with a white plastic lid is nothing remotely like the style of cups they're all drinking from in the scene. HBO acknowledged the slip up and digitally edited it out on streaming services, reruns and future DVD releases.

Kissed by Fire - S3-E5

Question: Although Tywin is Cersei's father, she is Queen Regent. Isn't she still in a higher place of power than him, and able to refuse to marry Loras?

Answer: As Hand of the King, Tywin is the second most authoritative person in Westeros behind only the king. The Hand's duties include sitting on The Iron Throne and dispensing order, justice and judgment, similar to what Ned Stark did in the Season 1 episode "A Golden Crown" while then-king Robert Baratheon was out hunting. It's also worth pointing out that Tywin's enormous wealth makes him the de facto most powerful person in Westeros, which he demonstrates in the Season 3 episode "Mhysa" when he sends King Joffrey to bed without his supper and remarks to Tyrion "You're a fool if you believe he's the most powerful man in Westeros. Do you really think the crown gives you power?"

Phaneron

Answer: The position of Queen Regent is largely a cipher as the Hand of the King is the actual regent for the king, handling day to day affairs and heading the small council. Tywin is still the leader of House Lannister and commands the army. Cersei's power derives from him, mostly. This is why she cannot truly counter Tyrion when he is acting Hand of the King or Master of Coin, both given by their father. She only starts acting like a queen when Tywin is dead.
