In the dinner scene with Shrek, Fiona, and her parents, they are eating soup with a letter placed on top of the soup. This could possibly be a slight reference to the soup in "The Princess Diaries" with a "G" on it for Genovia in the dinner scene. "The Princess Diaries" is another Julie Andrews film. See more...

Continuity: When Puss in Boots plants his sword in the ground then jumps out of his boots, his sword, boots and hat are nowhere near any trees or grass. Yet after attacking Shrek, Puss in Boots lands in his boots, and his boots, sword and hat have moved to being right beside a tree.
