Other mistake: When the waiter informs Taylor's ex that she has a phone call, he says "Call for you, Miss Russo" which is the character's real last name.

Suggested correction: She says "Ms. Weslin, there's a telephone call for you." Weslin is Lynn's last name.

Other mistake: Roger says to Jake that he's going to be a free agent next year, which he's excited about and why he doesn't want to risk injury, but then when he learns of the owner's plan and that he'll be given his release next year, which is the same as free agency, he's upset. Plus you can't be given your release when your contract ends, which it must be if he thought he was going to be a free agent.

Suggested correction: Roger says he'll be a free agent after the next season, not the current season. Depending on the terms of his contract, he could be optioned to the minors or designated for assignment, which could reduce his value on the market when he does become a free agent. This plot point is actually rendered moot a bit in the sequel when he retires, but does come into play as he can activate himself as he's still under contract with the Indians.

Continuity mistake: The batting order in the one-game playoff is Taylor-Dorn-Cerrano (as seen in the 7th), with Hayes batting before Taylor (as seen in the 9th). Cerrano hits the homer with two outs in the 7th, and Hayes is shown batting with nobody on, and two outs in the 9th. If they faced the minimum, Hayes would've been up with only one out (#5 batter gets the third out in the 7th, 6-7-8 batters get out in the 8th, and the #9 batter gets one out before Hayes). There's no way they could've gone through the line-up again without scoring a run. The furthest they could've gotten was the #8 batter (two spots before the leadoff Hayes) coming to bat in the 9th with two outs and nobody on. (01:23:30)

Question: How did Willie Mays Hayes end up arriving at camp? Was there simply a mistake on the invite list, or did Hayes end up knowingly crashing camp on his own?

Answer: He just shows up, uninvited. When he first arrives, they can't find his name on the list; he's later (comedically) removed from camp in the middle of the night when security carries him out on his bed (while commenting "This is the guy who wasn't invited to camp"). So, he's relying on his speed and charm to get him a spot on the team... which, of course, ultimately works.
