Corrected entry: When Bolt and Mittens jump out of the truck, Bolt starts bleeding and asks, "What is this red liquid coming from my paw?" Dogs are supposed to be colour blind.

Correction: Dogs are not supposed to talk either. You have to suspend belief a little.

papajim

Corrected entry: Bolt's lighting pattern changes throughout the movie. As he get dirtier, the pattern goes almost invisible, but later during the movie you can see the pattern is back.

Correction: This is a deliberate mistake as Bolt's lightning bolt sign is NOT a birthmark as he originally believed, but the mark of a make up artist, explaining why the pattern faded during the movie.

Corrected entry: A man hears barking coming from a shipping carton. He takes a knife and slices the tape that goes across the top of the box. He then opens the two flaps of the box with no problem, even though he had not cut the tape that went over the edges of the box.

Correction: Very easy to do; once you make the initial cut down the center you can tear outwards from the ends of the cut to open the flaps. Some packing tape is designed to rip across it's width to make for easier use.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: How is it that Bolt has never felt hunger before in his entire life? It's not the severity of the hunger that he doesn't understand. When he gets hungry while he is with Mittens, he makes it clear that he has no idea what the sensation is.

Correction: It is actually the severity of the hunger that he does not understand. He may have had mild hunger pangs in his life, but as an extremely well pampered TV series performer he's never really "gone hungry". It is the combination of the severe hunger and his growling stomach (the first time he's ever heard that) that he has never experienced before.

Corrected entry: When Bolt and Mittens are about to stow away in the U-Haul Truck, the thinner guy loads up the truck and locks the back door. Before the door is closed, you can hear the truck's engine start. When the camera changes, the thin guy is in the driver's seat. The thin guy had the keys all along. So how did the truck start if he wasn't even in the driver's seat yet?

Skyline97

Correction: There is a significant amount of time where the thin guy could have given the keys to the chubby one.

Corrected entry: When Bolt meets the two cats on the set for the first time, he looks on them through the top of the caravan. Behind the cats you can see the sky. How can you possibly see the sky while being in a hangar?

Khrinx

Correction: What we're actually seeing in the background is the filming set. It's not the real sky.

Corrected entry: The opening scene portrays Bolt in his world (or at least how he perceives it as a true-believing method actor). Nonetheless, it is virtually impossible to shoot a television episode in such a manner where everyone and everything hits their marks on the first try. (00:02:35 - 00:11:00)

Correction: Virtually impossible, but not technically impossible, therefore not a movie mistake.

Phixius

Corrected entry: When Bolt is talking to the pigeons in New York, a bus bearing a "Bolt" ad pulls up. Seconds later, after the bus leaves, another bus with a "Bolt" ad pulls up. However, in the very next shot, (a wide shot showing Bolt and the pigeons) the bus is gone.

Correction: At the end of the zoomed out scene you later do see the front corner of the bus as it starts driving away.

Corrected entry: A tank of helium gets lit on fire and explodes at a shelter in the movie. Helium is one of the noble gases and thus is not flammable.

Correction: The tanks aren't labeled. There would be no use for helium in an animal shelter. More likely, the tanks contain the highly flammable carbon monoxide, which is used to euthanize animals.

JC Fernandez

Corrected entry: During the credits, a pair of dice is shown. One die has the four and two on adjacent sides. On a real die, any two numbers adding up to six would be on opposite sides.

Correction: This is not true. Opposite sides of a die add up to seven. The 2 would be opposite the 5, meaning that the 2 and 4 would always be on adjacent sides.

Correction: That doesn't happen.

Bolt mistake picture

Factual error: Near the beginning of the film, Calico is sitting with a cat on his right shoulder. Their reflection is shown in the glasses of a man directly opposite. The reflection shows Calico and the cat in the same position instead of being reversed, as a reflection would be. (00:04:30)

Question: This has been confusing me for some time. Who owns Bolt legally? The network or Penny? The opening prologue shows a younger Penny selecting Bolt at a pet store when he's only a puppy. Fives years later, during the making of the TV show, the network forbids Penny from taking Bolt to her house because they want him to think he's a superdog. This raises additional questions. How long has the show been on the air? Is what the network doing to Bolt legal? Is Penny allowed to quit the show at any time if she feels like it? Do they have deal with the studio lawyers over custody of Bolt if she resigns from the show?

Answer: Okay, here we go: Since Bolt was bought by the network FOR Penny, the network technically owns the dog. IF the dog was purchased by Penny's parent(s) or legal guardian, Bolt belongs to Penny legally. This is never really explained, but one can assume the studio owns Bolt since they lay down the law to Penny about taking Bolt off the set and keeping him in his own fantasy world. The show has been on the air for at least two years given Bolt's growing from a puppy to a dog and getting properly (fooled) trained all the while. The show is a colossal hit and it would have taken a studio at least two seasons to achieve that kind of success. Studios spend that kind of advertising money on TV shows that are major hits. (Look at "Lost" and "Heroes" and their advertising budget!)Next: Yes, what the network is doing to Bolt IS legal given the parameters of the film's content. (If a screenwriter writes that it's legal; it's legal!). If this were REAL life, PETA would have shut them down immediately! Penny is an actress and CAN quit anytime she wants provided she's NOT under any contract that prohibits her walking out. Given that fact that she almost DIES at the end, she was probably given anything she wanted by the studio to keep it out of the press and avoid any major lawsuits. This would means she could leave AND take Bolt with her as per the studio lawyers!
