The Prestige

Trivia: During Borden's performance which ends with Angier shooting him, on at least two occasions the bill for the show can be seen off to one side. About halfway down is the name "Harry Dresden", the name of the wizard protagonist from the Dresden Files book series by Jim Butcher.

Trivia: The "Chinaman" in the movie was based on a real-life magician. He wasn't Asian at all, he just dressed and lived the part. The first English he ever spoke in his career were his last words. When a bullet catch went awry, he uttered the words, "My God, I've been shot" just before his death.

Trivia: There are a couple times in the movie, where if you listen carefully, you can hear Angier's English accent slip through (such as when he says to Olivia "He lives his act"). These are subtle clues to the later revelation that Angier is a British aristocrat pretending to be an American magician.

Trivia: Christopher Priest, who wrote the novel that the film is based on, is reportedly a huge fan of the film and even thinks certain aspects of it are better than the novel.

Trivia: The genesis of the feud between Angier and Borden in the novel is quite different. There, they are not partners, rather Borden exposes Angier as a grifter during a séance, which results in a scuffle that causes a miscarriage for Angier's wife.

Revealing mistake: When one twin (presumably Alfred) is removing the other twin's fingers, "Alfred's" upper arm passes through his twin's head as "Alfred" reaches for the hammer. [Fixed on DVD.]

Olivia Wenscombe: He wants me to come work for you and steal your secrets.
Alfred Borden: What does he need my secrets for? His trick is top-notch. He vanishes, and then he reappears instantly on the other side of the stage - mute, overweight, and unless I'm mistaken, very drunk. It's astonishing, how does he do it?

Question: When Borden and Fallon are in the same scene, is someone else playing Fallon? Or does Christian Bale play both, the same way Arnie Hammer did on Social Network?

Answer: It's Bale, at least whenever you can see Fallon's face. The same way they do twins played by the same person in any other film.
