Odd Thomas

Trivia: The film was meant to be a major theatrical release and was filmed in 2011. However, the film was shelved, and a lawsuit was subsequently levied against one of the production companies over the mishandling of funds that were supposed to go towards marketing. As a result, the film's theatrical release was eventually cut back to a very small and limited number of theaters, and it was instead released primarily as a direct-to-video film in 2014.

Trivia: Original novel author Dean Koontz loved the film, and was very happy by how it turned out.

Other mistake: When Odd Thomas and Stormy are riding on his moped through town to stop the massacre they pass a car dealership. All of the letters on the dealership signs are reversed except for a large lighted awning sign that says "Welcome to quality." The normal and reversed signs appear at the same time in the same frame. Chief Wyatt Porter: I can't hold him.
Odd Thomas: All right, well, you do agree that he's strange and suspicious, right?
Chief Wyatt Porter: If strange and suspicious were enough to put someone in jail, you'd already be there.

Question: Not strictly a question about the movie, but is there any reason why, as of 2022, director Stephen Sommers hasn't directed any more movies after "Odd Thomas?" It's been 11 years since this movie was actually shot (and 8 years since its release), and the only thing he's done since this movie has been executive producing two direct-to-video "Scorpion King" sequels. He did some pretty popular films in the 90's and early 2000's, so it seems strange that he's just sort-of disappeared recently.
