every time some one opens the door to Luke's diner the bell rings, but the door never hits it. [The bell has a clapper. The bell itself has a clapper which rings by movement. It only needs to have motion to make the clapper hit the inside of the bell and thus ring. It doesn't need to actually hit another object in order to ring.]

Rory Gilmore: That's going on your tombstone.
Mistakes
When Rory comes into the room to answer the phone and sees Paris avoiding the call because it's her boyfriend Jamie, she empties the contents of her school bag onto the desk, including her mobile phone. Then later in the scene when Rory suggests Paris use her mobile phone to call Jamie, she pulls it out of her bag again, despite having left it on the table all but half a minute earlier. See more...

Gilmore Girls (2000) - 15 corrections
starring Alexis Bledel, Edward Herrmann (add more)
Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

In season 6, "21 is the loneliest number", Lane and Rory are talking at Rory's birthday party. Lane says "This house is amazing, I've never been here before", when in fact in Season 1 Emily threw Rory a birthday party there that Lane attended. [Lane never went to the birthday party Emily threw for Rory in season one.]
P.S. I Lo... (series 1)
When Lorelai wants to go into the market Rory asks if it is Wednesday since that is the only day she knows Dean doesn't work, and Lorelai says no. The next day, when Lorelai picks up Rory, someone says something about seeing them tomorrow. Their dinners are always on Fridays, it must therefore be Thursday, and the market conversation took place on Wednesday and Lorelai was wrong. [Or lying to get her daughter to go into the store and stop making a fuss. Even if she was wrong, so what? If it's plausible that Rory didn't know what day it was, why couldn't Lorelai not know as well?]
Rory's Dance (series 1)
Miss Patty wakes up Dean and Rory at the dance studio and tells them it's 5:30 AM. When Rory runs home through the snowy streets, it's quite light out. But at no time during winter in the northeast is it light at 5:30 AM. In reality, she'd be running home in complete darkness. [No, she wouldn't. The city (or town if you will) lights reflect off both the clouds in the sky and the snow on the ground, filling the entire area with ambient light. This happened where I live two nights ago. 3:00 AM and it looked like ten minutes before sunset.]
Rory's Birthday Parties (series 1)
Just when Rory is cutting the cake at her second birthday party, her grandparents arrive. Sookie is the one to bring in the cake, we don't see her leave the room, and if she did she would meet Richard and Emily on the way. But when Lorelei enters the kitchen a little later, Sookie is there and is surprised to hear that they have come, even she was seemingly in the room when they entered. [It's perfectly possible Sookie didn't see them because you don't have to go through the hall to go to the kitchen, you can go that way but there's another way too.]
Pilot (series 1)
All of series 1 (series 1)
Rory's age throughout season 1 is slightly strange. In "Pilot", Lorelai tells the guys at Luke's that Rory is 16 and five episode later ("Rory's Birthday Parties"), Rory celebrates her birthday. This would therefore make her now 17. However, in the episode "Christopher Returns" Rory tells Straub that she is 16 years old, which would either make Rory 15 in "Pilot" or not turn a year older in "Rory's Birthday Parties" [Now, I'm not sure if this is a correction, but maybe more of a theory as to why this is? I know that when it is like a week before my birthday, I go ahead and tell strangers, if they ask, that I am already however old I am turning. So then I don't one day say, "Oh yeah I'm 15" when the next week I have to tell them "I am 16 now". And maybe Loralai just wanted to give a rounded answer, or make the point to the man more dramatic.]
There's the Rub (series 2)
When Rory orders Indian food, they say it is going to take 40 minutes. After that Paris arrives, Rory agrees to help her, and she changes her clothes. Just before Jess shows up, Rory says to Paris that her hour is up. The Indian food still hasn't come, and we only ever see them eat the food Jess brought. Deliveries can be late, but after over 20 additional minutes you would think someone would comment on it. [Someone could have delivered the Indian food while Rory was busy helping Paris, so she just put it away (in the fridge), and then later decided to eat what Jess had brought instead. These girls are known for storing fast-food for weeks and then throw it away.]
Those Are Strings, Pinocchio (series 3)
In the episode in which Rory graduates from Chilton, she was talking to Dean, early in the episode. He said he has a nephew who was going to be the ring bearer in his wedding. But, Dean only has one sister and at the time, she was only about 10 years old. Maybe 12, but not old enough to have a three year old son. And, never, in any other episode, does Dean have or mention another sibling. How could he possibly have a nephew? [Actually, early in the show's run, Dean uses the word "sisters" when giving Rory the details about his family. We only ever see one sister, but that would presumably be because the other is older and no longer lives with her parents.]
Face-Off (series 3)
In this episode, Rory tells Lorelai that she was cleaning her computer's hard drive because it was full of unopened downloaded files which were consuming her CPU speed. This is wrong, the situation which she's explaining would not use up any extra CPU speed - she may be trying to say her hard drive was extremely fragmented which MIGHT consume some CPU speed (but a tiny amount). However, for a rich family, I hardly doubt they're using P1 processors, so I somehow doubt they'd notice a tiny drop in Mhz. [Actually, Rory and Lorelai are not the ones who are rich, Emily and Richard are. In fact, Lorelai had to borrow money from Richard and Emily on a few occasions, including Rory's education at Chilton. Lorelai makes just enough money for her and Rory to get by. If you watch the first episode, "Pilot", their old, lumpy couch is proof that they have no money and becomes a running joke throughout the show's episodes. So, maybe they didn't have the best computer in the world because they couldn't afford it? ]
Dear Emily and Richard (series 3)
In this episode, Sherry is giving birth to Georgia and Rory is the only one there with her at the beginning of her pre-delivery status. Sherry is freaking out about work and needs to reschedule all her appointments, so she and Rory do it using a mobile phone. Anyone whose ever been to a hospital or even watched an episode of E.R. would know that mobile phones are not allowed to be used in hospitals. The nurse in the scene even talks to Sherry while Rory is talking on Sherry's mobile phone for her, so it's not as if the staff didn't know about it. [Cell phones are allowed in maternity wards.]
That'll Do, Pig (series 3)
They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They? (series 3)
This whole episode is based on a 24 hour dance contest. When we see Lorelie and Rory going it is 5:30 in the morning and dark. It stays dark the whole day, and you know this because when Jess and Shayne show up he goes and gets a sandwich which is at noon but it is still dark out. [It never says what time it is when they get the sandwiches. It could have been at night.]
Take the Deviled Eggs... (series 3)
At Sherry's baby shower, Lorelai and Sherry made a remark about having men carry them around like princesses. Then Lorelai gets alarmed at the guest popping party poppers, and in the next shot two women are standing up - away from the couch, popping some. The black woman, in a cream sweater, pops a popper, but in the next shot, she is sitting down on the couch. [Actually if you look carefully, after the black woman, Gail, has popped the popper and smiled to Sherry she turns around and takes a plate from the table. In the next shot she's shown she looks like she's sitting down to the sofa. So there isn't any actual mistake here since between these shots there is plenty of time for her to walk round the sofa.]
One's Got Class and the Other One Dyes (series 3)
As Lorelai and Luke are leaving his apartment after she made him change his shirt when they're going to talk at the school, she tells him that Jess has a girl in the closet. Jess later confirms that it's true and that the girl is Shane. At the same time Shane is working at the beauty shop, selling hair dye to Lane. We see her both before and after she's supposed to be in the closet (since Lane freaks out and dyes her hair back to black), so there's no way she could have got off work and gone over to Jess after. [Lane actually buys the hair dye the day before. Notice that Rory is wearing her Chilton uniform and Shane has on a brown shirt. The next day, when Rory goes back to buy the black dye, she is in jeans and Shane has on a purple shirt. This takes place after Luke and Lorelai have left for the school. So, there was plenty of time for Shane to leave Jess's closet and go to work.]
