You know, for a trickster, Loki sure is chronically pissed off every time he's in a movie. _________________ I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none. |

He's probably just eyeing the bloody great hammer that Thor's carrying nervously... _________________ "If we're going to die, let's die looking like a Peruvian folk band." |

But Loki's got those poison arrows he could sling at Thor before he ever got close enough to do any damage. _________________ I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none. |

The better news is that my sister-in-law Misato swears that Branagh is the ONLY bright side to the world and can do no wrong...so fear not, all is well. _________________ I am ready to return to England now. |

With Thor having a big presentation at Comic-Con, unsurprisingly the footage shown there has shown up online, nearly six minutes worth of promo-reel. Word is that the whole show went down very well with the audience and the promo footage certainly gives a bit of an idea how Branagh's done with the piece.
Still got no real idea whether this'll end up being successful, but, from the look of what's here, doesn't seem like they've dropped the ball entirely... _________________ "If we're going to die, let's die looking like a Peruvian folk band." |

I know that's what it looked like in the comics, but.... that hammer sucks. Is this guy a carpenter or a war god?
This is more suited to a god. _________________ I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none. |

What, with all that nice gold ornamentation? What is this, Queer Eye For The Straight God?
Naah, just a straightforward "this is going to hurt like hell" hammer for the whole war god look. Nothing fancy, nothing ornate, just pain in one straightforward and simple package... _________________ "If we're going to die, let's die looking like a Peruvian folk band." |

Dunno... I kinda like the ornate hammer, not that I have any gay tendencies or anything like that (tho I am Hell on wheels with a sewing machine... ). And if you get tired of bashing in skulls you have three spikes to bludgeon you enemies with. The one they're using for the movie looks like the short sledge they use for knocking through drywall...
And why the leather strap? Are they pummeling people or playing racquetball? I thought the thing weighs a ton; is a leather strap really going to hold the thing?
Sorry to nit-pick, but I sat through 7 minutes of credits at the end of Iron Man 2 expecting some revalation and all you get to see is a one-second shot of a hammer that they sell in the tool isle at the Home Depot. |

Right, cuz the cape and fish-net body stocking are totally hetero... and his dad's solid gold eyepatch isn't any kind of bling at all, so why would their weapons be either?

Except the longer handle of my hammer gives Thor more leverage, and therefore more capacity for inflicting pain/damage. And, as Boca points out, more options. Lose the flair, fine, that wasn't the point. That tiny thing he's got now is better suited for making weapons than being weilded as one. _________________ I dare do all that may become a man. Granted, I knew nothing of the comic origins of Thor and only know the little I do now due to the influence of this comic geek from England...but that trailer was NOTHING like I imagined. As for the hammer, I look at it like Batman's tights and Superman's cape...they are what they are because the comic came first and no matter how dork, some images must be honored or risk losing something of where they came from
Regardless, I am suddenly way more interested in this movie _________________ I am ready to return to England now. |

Fair points. But look at Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Where were Batman's tights in those films? Gone, because tights are stupid. They kept Superman's tights for Superman Returns and that fish flopped hard. _________________ I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none. |

Yes, but in the comic, Batman's costume has changed several times throughout the years. Other than the brief Man of Energy story arc, the only real change in Superman's costume has been the size and shape of his S-shield.
Batsuit Gallery
Superman
And I know almost nil about Thor (I'm a DC fan). Who's the big robot in the end of the trailer? _________________ "Bargained Well and Done " |

That would be the Destroyer, a mystically animated suit of armour originally forged by Odin and directed by various different characters over the years for both nefarious and heroic purposes. _________________ "If we're going to die, let's die looking like a Peruvian folk band." |
