Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

Updated recently A minor quibble, but it would be near suicide to ride a motorcycle wearing a six-foot cape. The drive assembly and or rear wheel/axle would eventually grab it and snap your neck. [This is an opinion, which is not a mistake.]
Updated recently If you look carefully, you can see the Joker wearing a Harvey Dent campaign badge when he is dressed as a nurse in the hospital. [Something thats on screen for all to see can hardly be considered Trivia.]
Entry When The Joker was arrested and taken to the holding cell, why did the police not remove his make-up? They had time to go through his pockets, take fingerprints and check the labels on his clothes, and didn't think to remove his make-up in an attempt to identify him? [We can not know and probably will never know their decision not to remove the makeup. Simply because they decided not to at that time does not constitute it a mistake. Interesting, but not a mistake.]
Entry Harvey Dent continually talks about how he received a lucky coin from his father when he was young. However, late in the movie he shows the face of the coin and the date on it is 1999. [It actually says 1922 on it.]
Entry About midway through the movie, just as Harvey Dent is being loaded into the armored police truck, as the door closes one can see the sticker on the right back side of the truck says Police Department; City of New York, not Gotham. [Upon multiple viewings of the movie, I can confirm that it does say Gotham, not New York.]
Entry When Batman is crashing through the glass in Hong Kong to kidnap Lau, you can see the wire attached to Batman that enables him to swing into the glass. [Yes, you can. Batman does not have the ability to fly, so he uses a system of gadgets, including wires, to help him do so.]
Entry While in the nurse uniform, The Joker's name badge says Matilda. This is the name of Heath Ledger's daughter. [After reading this entry, I've seen the movie two times and didn't see Matilda's name on the badge. The badge doesn't have a name on it.]
Entry When Harvey is set on fire, he put his hand directly into the fire for about 3 seconds, but both his hand and sleeve are unaffected (no burns - even minor ones). [He was rolling around and moving his hand into/out of the licking flames. This can be harmless so long as the hand is kept moving enough to not allow any portion to become over-heated. This is an old barbeque & campfire stunt folks do all the time. I once waved my arm through tall flames for nearly a half-minute and had no skin or clothing damage at all.]
Entry In the beginning of the bank heist scene the Joker is standing on a street corner with a clown mask in his hand. As a truck pulls up he puts the mask over his face. Later he takes the mask off and is wearing makeup. This means while standing on the street corner without the mask on, his makeup would have been visible to the public. [And if true, he'd have been a guy, standing on a corner with clown make-up on. An odd, quirky sight in a large, densely populated city like Gotham, but nothing that would necessarily alarm anyone as his intentions weren't known yet. His presence might be something like a man, wearing only his underwear, standing in the middle of Times Square, New York, playing a guitar- which today is a 'normal', well-known sight, but is still odd enough to make many people look twice. No mistake.]
Entry When Lucius Fox arrives in Hong Kong, he's greeted by an assistant to Lau at the helipad. He's played by actor/singer Edison Chen. He's also the guy who tells Lucius to leave his phone in the lobby's reception. Edison Chen was involved in a sexy pictures scandal in Hong Kong early 2008, when photos of him having sex with Hong Kong singers and actresses (some of them since married) that were stored in his computer were leaked online. His few seconds onscreen are probably the last we'll see of him as his showbiz career is now kaput. [The actor's sex scandal really has nothing to do with The Dark Knight, and is therefore not valid trivia.]
Entry When Gordon comes back, he taps Joker and when Joker looks up, for a split second, you can see that he doesn't have a scar on his face. Then when he turns back, the scar appears. [This shot is not done in close-up - there's simply not enough visual information to state that his scar is missing. Having watched for this specifically during my last viewing, the Joker looks no different from any other shot in the film.]
Entry Watch carefully as Reese places the blueprints of the 'Tumbler' Batmobile on Fox's desk. As he takes his hand away, you can see that the drawing of the right-hand side of the vehicle is incorrectly labelled 'Left Elevation'. [The blueprint is folded, and that label belongs to the proper left-side image that is beyond the fold, face-down on the table.]
Entry When The Joker arrives at Dent's fundraiser, Rachel and Harvey are away from the party in one of the other rooms. Bruce comes and drags Harvey away, saying, "They're coming for him". So why does Rachel end up amongst all the party guests for The Joker to threaten? Surely she would have stayed hidden and out of the way. And why didn't Bruce simply hide Rachel with Dent to ensure her safety, or at least hide her somewhere, like wherever he got the BatSuit from, for example? These are some baffling character decisions that don't make sense at all. [It's established from the previous film that Rachel is stubborn and indignant when it comes to justice and right (going up against the mob, for instance). Bruce may very well have put her in a safe place, but she refused to allow the Joker to intimidate her. A questionable choice, but hardly out of character for her.]
Entry Two-Face's face should drool (also known as ptyalism or sialorrhea) saliva from his mouth openings; it just looks too waxy. [Swallowing the saliva, damage to salivary glands in the fire, wiping his mouth off camera; several explainations. As a former medic I've treated people with severe burns; Harvey's appearence in the movie is a good approximation of what someone looks like with their skin completely burned off.]
Entry When the Joker attacks the police convoy with Harvey Dent, why is it that none of the policemen shoot back at him, or at least tries to defend himself with a gun? There were many policemen out there (some were killed, of course), policemen usually carry guns, and there was enough time between the Joker's attacks to take out a gun and shoot at him. I think I would give guns for people who were transferring one of Gotham's most wanted criminals, and who are expecting to be attacked by the most brutal criminal in town. [Carrying guns yes, trying to fire them and control the vehicle at the same time is something different. They are traveling at high speeds with a homicidal maniac firing rockets at them. The likelihood they would be able to roll down the window and take him out would not be too smart or effective.]
Entry In one of the final scenes where Batman goes into the building where Joker is conducting his "social experiment" with the two ferries, Batman's "sonar eyes" appear and re-appear through many different cuts. [That's because they're being activated, deactivated, reactivated, etc. They don't stay visible because they don't stay on.]
Entry During the convoy scene, The Joker's men are set up to ambush the police copters. how would they know where to set up? Even with inside info from dirty cops, they couldn't know where the driver would detour and resurface to street level. [The detour was forced by the burning fire truck, which funneled the convoy onto Lower 5th Street where the attack began. Being an underground roadway, exits would be limited, so if only one or two turns off are possible plus an exit at the end, Joker only needs to have his guys covering those three possibilities. Had the convoy not been diverted onto the lower roadway, it would've had far more options for escape, but the roadblock worked.]
Entry In the scene where Joker is doing the "magic trick" with the pencil, he first stabs the pencil through the table. Then after he slams the guy's head down, there's no hole from the pencil. [He does not stab it through the table, he balances it upright on it's flat end. The swift downward motion he uses to put it on the table just makes it look like he is stabbing it; if he tried to stab an actual pencil into the table the graphite and wood tip would splinter into pieces.]
Entry Toward the end of the bank heist scene, when the pin is pulled from the grenade that is in the bank manager's mouth, you can see a tube that releases the smoke from the grenade, running from his mouth to the inside of his collar. [It's not a wire. It's a crease in his cheek from having to open his mouth so wide.]
Entry In the shot where we first see Gordon again after he 'dies', a part of his glasses frame is missing (on the left), but in the next shot, when we see him with Dent his glasses are perfect. [They're two different pairs of glasses. He's first wearing tactical glasses to match his SWAT uniform. Later, he's switched to his usual frames.]
