Four o'clock, wallow in self pity; 4:30, stare into the abyss; 5:00, solve world hunger, tell no one. 5:30, jazzercize. 6:30, dinner with me. I can't cancel that again. 7:00, wrestle with my self-loathing; I'm booked. Of course, if I bump the loathing to 9 I could still be done in time to lay in bed, stare at the ceiling and slip slowly into madness. But what would I wear?

Director Ron Howard eventually decided that he had to experience what the cast was going through (since they all had to spend so much time in makeup, especially Jim Carrey) so Howard wore the Grinch makeup one day and directed all day long as the Grinch.
When Cindy Lou goes up to the Grinch's lair, before she goes inside you can hear him yell "Owiee." This is exactly what Jim Carrey said in "Liar Liar" when he was hitting his head above the urinal (when he beat himself up in the bathroom).
The widow of the late Dr. Seuss insisted that if the story were made into a movie, no one but Jim Carrey would play the role of the Grinch. Sure enough, she got her wish.
