Ice melts from the outside in, so the dam should have melted at the same time as all the water behind it. [Yes ice does melt that way but the water behind the dam was most likely a river that had been blocked by the movement of a glacier. Ice dams did exist during the ice ages, some of them holding vast amounts of water and they still exist today in places such as Iceland. Here is some information on ice dams: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_dam.]

Mistakes
At the end of the movie, when the water drains away, there would be no way for a) the amount of water to drain away that did and b) for the mammoths that came through to be completely dry. See more...
Trivia
The movie contains a spoof of Saving Private Ryan, where Manny is hit by a geyser and temporarily loses his hearing. Incidentally, the German voice for Manny, Arne Elsholtz, also synchronizes Tom Hanks, who also stars in that movie, which creates an inside joke by happenstance in the German version. See more...

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

Near the beginning, where Sid threatens to jump of the ice cliff, Manny and Diego are shouting from the ground for him to come down. Then about a minute later it cuts to Sid up on top of the hill, and Manny and Diego are already up there. It took 10 minutes for Sid to get up there but it took Manny and Diego a minute. [There is nothing to indicate that it was only a minute later. Sid was obviously trying to put it off as long as possible, I think he was up to 2 and so many parts of a thousand. So it's not implausible that, since they knew their friend was in danger, they rushed up the cliff.]
