[Maude shows the porn video starring Bunny to the Dude.]

Sherry: [on video] You must be here to fix the cable.

Maude Lebowski: Lord. You can imagine where it goes from here.

The Dude: He fixes the cable?

Maude Lebowski: Don't be fatuous, Jeffrey.

Mistakes

When you first see the Dude, Walter, and Donnie together at the bowling alley the bowlers sitting in the background of the next lane keep changing between the shots of Walter and Donnie sitting down and the Dude standing. See more...

Trivia

This isn't really a mistake, just something to note - throughout the whole movie the Dude is not seen bowling once. Also, every time you see Donnie (Steve Buscemi) bowl, he gets a strike, except for the last bowling scene, he does not get a strike, and he dies of a heart attack a few minutes after this. Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

Entry At the beginning of the movie, when The Dude is writing a check for the cream at the grocery, look at the date on the check. Sept 11, 1991. A few seconds later we see George Bush Sr. talking about Iraq. So here we have a scene containing Sept. 11th, George Bush and references to the Middle East in a movie that takes place in 1991. [This is not a mistake - or trivia. The George Bush on the television is GWB's father - who was in office during the FIRST Iraq conflict. In 1991. Historically, this is correct. Sept. 11 happened when a Bush was in office, except, it was his son.]
Entry At the beginning, when the Dude is getting pushed into the bathroom by Jackie Treehorn's goon, right before the Dude gets his head dunked into the toilet, you can see that his hair is already wet. [The Dude's hair is not actually wet - it looks different than in the previous shot because it is a stunt double wearing a wig.]
Entry Towards the end of the scene where The Dude and Walter are spreading the ashes of Donny on a cliff, a person can be seen walking into view on a cliff in the background around the time Walter says, "Let's go bowling." [This has already been corrected. They are in public and it's just a man out for a stroll along the cliff.]
Entry The 'marmot' that the Dude is threatened with in the bath is actually a ferret. [The Dude doesnt know what a ferret is and was stoned at the time so calls it a marmot.]
Entry When Maude Lebowski is getting out of her painting harness, it appears as though she is completely nude until she puts on her robe. However, if you zoom in, you can see that, while she is topless, she is wearing flesh colored panties. [You can see the panties from the time she's in the harness to the time she's in her robe, so I don't see how it's a mistake.]
Entry As The Dude enters his apartment for the first time, he is not wearing sunglasses. One of the thugs grabs him and shoves his head into the toilet. When they let him go, he fishes out a pair of sunglasses. [The sunglasses are on the top of his head.]
Entry The Dude's driver's-side door is unusable after his car is stolen and retrieved, and we see him using the passenger door at least once after he takes the car home. But then at Larry Sellers' house, which they visit pretty soon, The Dude gets out of the driver's door as if nothing had happened; I doubt he'd have bothered to have it fixed in that short time. [This just means the outside handle is damaged and can't be used. The inside handle is still usable, so Dude can get out of the car via the passenger door but not into it.]
Entry When The Dude first sees Bunny she is painting the nail of her big toe and the other toes on that foot (her right) have not been painted. When she asks him to blow, a few seconds later, all 10 toenails have been painted. [All toes are painted.]
Entry In the scene of Donny's eulogy you can see a crew member walk by on the ridge at the upper right hand part of the screen. [They scatter Donnie's ashes at the beach - that person could be anyone out for a walk.]
Entry The last time we see "Donnie" bowl, instead of rolling a strike he knocks down only 9 pins. He then sits down and doesnt bother to go for the spare. Why? I doubt it's because he threw a gutterball to start. [It could have been the 3rd ball of the 10th frame.]
Entry When the Dude gets tossed into Lebowski's limosine, his white russian mysteriously fills back up after being half empty. [The glass is being held at an angle. ]
Entry When Walter and the Dude are leaving the bowling ally when the cops are coming, we see the dog trailing behind Walter. He never puts the dog in the car or the carrying case before he and the Dude pull out. [The back door of the car is open for quite a long time while Walter is talking and putting the carrier and his ball in - there is plenty of time for the dog to jump in, and the dog appears to be well trained so it probably did so.]
Entry Walter is twenty minutes late for a league game against Smokey's team. Before he ever gets up to roll, he has pulled a gun on Smokey and The Dude states that they're calling the cops. In the next scene, Walter and The Dude get into his car as the LAPD arrives. How fast did Walter bowl ten frames? How slow is the LAPD? [This is obviously a stab at the LAPD's infamously slow reaction time.]
